摘 要:囿于逻辑一语义表征的英语情态助动词意义假说有着天然的语用欠缺,因此不能对动态的用法作出全面的解释。本文从多义与传统单义假说的内部矛盾入手揭示了这种局限,探讨了以语用的直接介入为标志,在语义、语用结合层面回归单义假说的趋势。新法单义在很大程度上反映了语言哲学于情态语义学的新近认识,其经验运用具有活力与生机。The self\|sufficiency of the logico\|semantic representation in terms of the English modals is born with a deficiency of pragmatic factors,and is therefore unable to give a sound and satisfactory exposition to the various use of the modals.Probing into the inner contradictions both of the polysemy and traditional monosemy view,this paper sheds light on the tendency of returning to monosemy based on a combination of semantics and pragmatics,and the application of the new method,due to the recent development in the philosophy of language,is full of vitality and proves dynamic.
