论英语全球化传播的原因及其影响

摘　　要：英语迅速传播并由民族语言、地区通用语最终成长为全球通用程度最高的语言与英美殖民政策关系密切,现在更仰仗英语国家在政治、军事、经济、科技、文化教育等领域的影响支配全球语言格局.一方面,英语的全球化发展是一把双刃剑,作为通用语它无疑促进了世界不同文化间的对话与交流;另一方面,其传播往往是在不平等的背景下实现的,全球语言和文化的多样性又因此受到威胁.在英语强劲的势头面前,采取因势利导,为我所用的策略,制定符合各国国情的语言政策才是最好的应对措施.The growth of English as a global lingua franca out of a national and then regional language is closely linked with the imperialism of Great Britain and the United States. The use of English in many countries was first imposed on mainly by using military force and is currently maintained by their dominant influence in politics, military, economy and education around the world. It is believed that the widespread of English is double-edged. English as a growing world language helps quicken exchanges between different cultures; on the other hand, world cultural diversity is thus endangered. The best way out is to make the most of English adopting language policies according to different circumstances.
