摘  要:本文回顾了媒体及其在教育中应用的发展,提出在口头语言、文字语言、数字语言为特征的媒体形态变化的三次突变中,新媒体产生,比较旧的媒体不是死亡了———它们继续演进和适应,形成汇聚、复杂的传媒家族。认为远程教育研究要遵循科学发展观,坚持以教育主体为本,以系统观为基点,坚持远程教育过程研究;提出过于迷恋新技术,就会出现抛弃教育观的内在风险,要摆脱追新汰旧的媒体观,坚持媒体发展的互补观,多种媒体优化组合是远程教育研究永恒的主题。This paper first offers a review of the development of learning media and their application in education. The three types of media that have emerged are then examined: oral media, textual media and digital media. Whenever a new medium emerges, the old media evolve and adapt. Hence, the different media combine and form a complex system. This author believes that media are the basis for the delivery of distance education and they form a bridge between educators and learners. Therefore, the development and application of learning media affect the effectiveness of distance education. Learning media should not be viewed as mere technologies. Besides, new media do not necessarily drive out the old, which may adapt and integrate themselves with the new. In order to research, develop and apply learning media in distance education, an optimal combination of old and new media should be emphasized. Lastly, this paper points out that people should be at the core of distance education, and the selection and application of learning media should take learner needs into consideration. The concepts of co-ordination and sustainable development are also of great importance.
