摘　　要：“不虚美,不隐恶”是司马迁撰写历史人物传记所遵循的实录原则,在中国传记文学发展史上影响甚大。本文对它的内涵和特点作了分析,肯定了传记文学坚持“不虚美,不隐恶”精神的重要性和必要性。To call a spade a spade, or “to exaggerate and conceal nothing”, is an essential principle of Sima Qian in his writing of biographies of historical figures, which is of great influence in Chinese history of biographical literature. This paper, through an in-depth analysis of its connotation and characteristics, vindicates the importance and necessity of this motto in the field of biographical literature.
