摘　　要：运用比较方法,考察了改革开放以来中国高等教育的发展及面临的机遇与挑战。指出:当前,中国高等教育发展到了一个新的阶段和关键时期,机遇与挑战并存,必须树立和落实科学发展观,坚持以人为本,统筹高等教育与经济建设的协调发展,走内涵与外延协调发展之路,正确把握规模与质量的辩证关系,推进不同类型、层次、所有制和不同区域高等教育的协调发展。The development of higher education in China has reached a new and crucial stage currently, facing both opportunities and challenges. We must establish and implement a scientific concept of development, which is human-oriented. By both intensive form and extensive form, the increasing speed of the scale of higher education should be coordinated with that of economic development. The dialectical relationship between the scale and quality has to be mastered. The development of different types, levels, ownerships and regions of higher education should be coordinated and balanced.
