摘　　要：大学有培养人才、发展科技和社会服务三大职能,其归根结底是服务于社会,促进社会的发展。哈佛大学、剑桥大学、牛津大学、耶鲁大学、普林斯顿大学等之所以能够被大家公认为世界一流大学,就在于它们能够很好地完善这三大职能。The function of a university is to train talented persons, develop science and serve community. While, it is mainly to serve community, then to promote social development. Some universities： Harvard University, University of Cambridge, Oxford University, Yale University, Princeton University and so on, are regarded as world-class universities because they can perfectly fulfil the three functions.
