摘　　要：人类的历史上出现过许多语言,但目前大约只有4000至5000种有文字的语言在世界各地被使用。它们主要分属于印欧语系、汉藏语系和闪含语系等。其中英语影响最大,本文旨在探讨英语源起对教学的影响。Language is the tool of communication. There are about 4,000 - 5,000 languages in the world. Most of them belong to the Indian - European family and Sino - Tibetan family. English, as a global language, belongs to the Germanic group of the Indian - European family. Now let＇ s talk about its origin, development process and the influence on the methodology of modem English.
