摘　　要：英国作家哥尔斯密的《世界公民》借中国人的眼光来观察英国社会,对英国的政治、法律、宗教等进行了有益而有趣的评论,用中国的和平谴责欧洲历史上绵延不断的战争;通过中英法律的对比,批评了英国法律的不公;借来自异国的孔子之徒李安济之口,揭示出英国宗教的虚伪。哥尔斯密塑造的中国形象具有乌托邦色彩,旨在从中国形象中汲取一种变革现状、颠覆现实的力量。The book Citizen of the World , written by British writer 0liver Goldsmith, is the most influential one to use China as materials in the 18th century. In the book, Goldsmith observed the English society from the eye of a Chinese, making beneficial and interesting comments on English politics, laws, religion, etc. He praised peace in China, condemned continual wars in the history of Europe, criticized the English laws by making a comparison betwe.en Chinese and English laws, and disclosed the hypocrisies of British religion through the mouth of Chinese philosopher Lien Chi, Image of China made by Goldsmith reflects the color of utopia, which aims at drawing powers to innovate the English society.
