摘　　要：字幕翻译作为一种翻译类型,除与其他翻译类型有着许多共同之处外,还具有其自身限制因素带来的特点。本文以功能对等理论为出发点,以北京、上海、西安、广州四家电影制片公司发行的八部故事片的中文对白及其英文字幕为语料,从句法调适角度分析描述了汉语故事片的英文字幕翻译所采取的策略。Subtitling, a distinctive kind of translation, shares the unavoidable problems with other translation types and possesses characteristics of its own as well. The article focuses on, with the samples from the eight films produced by Beijing, Shanghai, Xi＇ an and Guangzhou Film Studios respectively, the examination and description of the strategies employed in subtitling Chinese feature films for English-speaking audiences from the syntactic aspect with functional equiva- lence theory.
