摘  要:英语同位语有多种表现形式,体现出多种语义关系和语用功能。认知研究表明,同位语表达的认知基础是对事物类别的认识,本位成分和同位成分是对同一事物从不同角度的认识。虽然它们的句法地位相同,但在句中所体现的意义和功能有异。可以说,同位语本质上是一种语义关系,而非句法关系。English apposition has various forms with various semantic relations and various pragmatic functions. The present study, from the cognitive perspective, takes into consideration the following three points : that the cognition of apposition is based on the knowledge of types and categories of things and objects; that the original expression and its appositional expression are used as two different expressions for the same thing or event seen from different perspectives ; and that the essential relationship between the two is that, in spite of the identical feature in syntax, they refer to different aspects of the object described out of different considerations. Therefore, apposition manifests itself with a semantic rather than syntactic relationship.
