摘　　要：英语习语作为一种广为流传且具有特定含义的固定词组和短句,是经过长期锤炼而成,其表现力异常丰富,是构成语言的不可分割的重要组成部分。英语习语的翻译不仅是不同语言的转换,更是不同文化的融合。但由于中西方文化的差异,在翻译实践中常会出现欠额翻译现象。本文从跨文化交际中文化融合和语言融合的内在关系阐明翻译的实质在于异化与归化的适度,并且由此探讨产生欠译的内在原因以及加以补偿的途径。As a special type of vocabulary in the English language, English idioms are usually hard to translate as problems of mistranslation and under-loaded translation often occur due to the distinct differences between the Chinese and English culture. This paper attempts through examples to explore the causes of under-loaded translation of English idioms and the way to compensate for it.
