摘　　要：分析了正切数的数学意义,论述了西方数学家J.Gregory、Schlomich、Andre、Estanave、Schwartz、Toscano、Entrenger和Knuth等人的成果,研究了晚清数学家徐有壬(1840年前)、戴煦的开创性工作,介绍了数学史界李俨等人的研究.Tangent number and its meaning in mathematics were analyzed. The studies of some western mathematicians, such as Schlomich, Andre, Estanave, Schwartz,Toscano, Entrenger and Knuth, and the creative work of Chinese mathematicians in the Qing Dynasty,such as Xu Youren（徐有壬, before 1840）,Dai Xu,were introduced. The research work of Li Yan and Luo Jianjin on this aspect were also reviewed.
