摘　　要：文中从跨文化交际的角度对中国学生和美国学生在实施拒绝言语行为时的策略选择进行了研究,旨在发现他们之间的异同以及策略选择背后的文化价值取向的差异,从而培养中国学生的语用能力和交际水平。This study is undertaken to investigate the similarities and differences of the strategies used by Chinese EFL （English as a foreign language） students and American students, with a particular focus on the speech act of refusal from the perspective of cross--cultural communication so as to help Chinese students to improve their pragmatic awareness and choices of communicative strategies.
