摘　　要：MPNs的使用涉及隐喻对应模式和类包含模式,但主要是根据类包含模式运作的。新加坡言语社团中MPNs的使用表明,该言语社团成员给予美国文化特权,将其实体作为本土实体的模型,使MPNs在类包含模式内获得特定的文化含义。Proper names not only denote, but also connote a lot. This paper, after a close exploration and analysis, demonstrates that MPNs behavior accords more with the class-inclusion model of metaphor than the correspondence model. In Singapore speech community, the MPNs are indicative of a tendency to privilege American culture and its entities as models for local ones, and capturing this cultural aspect of MPNs is more easily done within the class-inclusion model.
