摘　　要：哈佛大学从一所名不见经传的地方性小学府发展成为国际性知名大学,历任校长的辛勤耕耘功不可没。对前后28位校长治校过程进行系统分析,归纳总结出校长在学校发展中的重要作用,即校长先进的治校理念是大学发展的源泉,校长出众的行政才华是大学发展的前提,校长适时的角色转变是大学发展的时代要求等,这对我国大学的发展可以提供启示和借鉴。The growth of Harvard University from an unknown local college to a famous international university is largely attributed to the hard work of its successive presidents. By systematically analyzing the process of its 28 presidents＇ management .of the school, the paper comes to the conclusion that the presidents＇ management ideas are the source of the university development; their outstanding administrative talent is the prerequisite of the university development; and their timely role-switching is the requirement Of the times of university development.
