摘　　要：典籍的翻译是一种研究型翻译,它比其它翻译具有更大挑战性。通过对《楚辞.少司命》三种英译的比较研究表明典籍的翻译具有更大的译者介入空间,因此,更需要译者发挥自己的才能,学识和创造性。This paper, through a comparative study of the English versions of Fate the Minor from The Verse of Chu, investigates the nature and task of the translation in question, as well as such issues as regard to the intervention （or manipulation）of the translator. It concludes that the translation of classics is of the research type, which is more challenging than other kinds of translation and thus allows more areas for the intervention of the translator.
