摘　　要：美国学者Michael Reddy提出的管道隐喻,丰富了Lakoff提出的英语概念隐喻的理论框架,为我们理解语言交际过程中的语义问题提供了新的视角。但因管道隐喻讨论语义问题时忽略了语言使用的具体社会文化背景,进而忽略词和句子等表达式的社会文化意义而招致人们的批评。English conduit metaphor constructed by Michael Reddy has enriched the theoretical framework of conceptual metaphor of George Lakoff, and it has greatly contributed to the understanding of semantic problems in verbal communication. Howerver, the discusstion of semantic problems from the perspective of conduit metaphor has neglected the concrete sociocultural background of langange use, therefore leaving the social and cultural meaning of words and sentences undealt with.
