摘　　要：习语作为语言的一种特殊形式,具有结构的固定性和使用的灵活性。习语的创造也有规律可循。追踪英汉习语的发展及演变轨迹,探讨英汉习语的创造手段,可使语言学习者拓展知识视野,提高跨文化交际能力。Idioms, as a special form of language, have their own structural fixity and are flexible in usage. In the creation of idioms there are certain rules to follow. To trace the evolution and variation of English and Chinese idioms, and to explore their creative approaehes will enable language learners to widen their scope of knowledge and to improve their abilities in the cross - cultural communications.
