英语委婉语的语用研究

摘　　要：委婉语是英语的重要组成部分,是常见的修辞手段之一。到目前为止,委婉语主要是从语义的角度定义的;由于委婉语在一种语境下是委婉语,而在另一种语境下并非如此,并且它们随着时间的推移而变化,因此委婉语的定义可以从语用学的角度重新界定,从语用学分析,委婉语的使用有时与Grice提出的"合作原则"中的准则相违背,但与Leech提出的"礼貌原则"是一致的。制约委婉语的使用有两大主要原则:适切原则和自我保护原则。Euphemism, an important part of English, is one of the figures of speech often used in our daily life. It has been so far defined semantically. Considering the fact that euphemism in one context may not be the same in another and it changes with the lapse of time, euphemism should be redefined from the pragmatic perspective. In some situation, the use of euphemism disobey the cooperative Principle put forward by Grice but conform to the polite principle by L eech. There are two principles governing the use of euphemisms： appropriateness principle and self-defensive principle.
