摘　　要：唐代诗人刘方平的《月夜》以人的视、听、感为中心,展开描绘,浑然一体,成为历代唐诗选本不漏的名篇,那么,英文的译诗也应从这样的艺术构思出发,译出意境效果。美国的汉诗英译家威特.宾纳在翻译这首译诗时,力求形美而不害义,比较忠实地把原诗的含义进行了传递,但在诗的音、形、意高度融合的整体把握上,似乎仍有不足。这再次证明了国外译家要对汉语古诗的英译做到音、形、意俱佳,还是大有难度的,但朝这个方向努力是译者的责任。The poet Liu Fangping＇s“A Moonlight Night” , unfolding its image around his own senses, i.e. viewing, hearing and feeling, becomes an indispensable part of every anthology of the Tang poetry. Its translation should likewise adequately bring out its artistry. The American sinologist and translator Witter Bynner strives for both its aesthetic form and correct meaning, but his translation seems still insufficient in interpreting the sound, form and meaning as a whole. Once and again it proves foreign translators′s inadequacy in handling classic Chinese poetry′s sound, form and meaning altogether; however, it is a translator′s duty to work intelli- gently in this direction.
