林纾译本《黑奴吁天录》人物改写痕迹的文化透视

摘　　要：《黑奴吁天录》是林纾翻译的第二本小说。因为林纾不晓外语,也从未到过国外,所以他非常依赖于其口译合作者。作为《汤姆叔叔的小屋》的第一个中文译本,译作中充满了改写的痕迹。然而就是这样一部在传统翻译理论中被认为是"不忠实"的译作却在当时中国受到读者的热烈欢迎,并产生了巨大的社会反响。这是传统翻译理论无法解释的。本文将以翻译研究派的理论为基础,从文化的视角对林译小说《黑奴吁天录》进行个案分析,说明了意识形态,诗学和赞助人因素对翻译活动产生影响。Heinu Fu Tian Lu is the second translation fiction ofLin Sbu. Because Lin Shu had no firsthand knowledge of any foreign language and hadnever traveled abroad, he bad to rely heavily on his collaborators, who orally relayed the meaning of the original to him, in the progress of translation. Being the first Chinese version of Uncle Tom s Cabin, it was full of traces of rewriting. This was labeled as ＂not being faithful＂ within the framework of trsditional translation theories. However, it was very popular with the Chinese readers and exerted great impact on the Chinese society at that time. The traditional translation theories cannot give a satisfactory explanation to this situation. Based on the theories of Translation Studies, the thesis will carry oat a case study on the characters in Lin Shu＇s Heinu Yu Tian Lu from the cultural perspectives, expound the ideology, patronage, and poetics exert on translation.
