关于公元649年临汾地震的讨论

摘　　要：唐贞观２３年８月癸酉（公元６４９年９月１２日）河东（黄河以东，今山西省境）地震，晋州（治临汾，今临汾市）尤甚。对此次地震事件的烈度等一直存有不同看法。过去中国地震目录对此次地震的烈度定为七度，震级５级。后来的目录对此有所修改和提高（八度～九度，６级），但从对有关资料分析看仍嫌偏低，它应是一次九度～十度，震级约为７级的破坏性地震。由于这次事件在临汾地区强震活动历史中占有十分重要的位置，对研究此区强震复发状况及进行地震危险性评估具有重要影响，应对其有足够的重视并开展历史地震学及古地震学的深入研究和讨论。对一些我国早期历史地震事件的烈度和震级存在有估计偏低的现象，此是一例。Linfen Basin is a region with long and rich historical earthquake records.On 12 December of 649 A.D. (Tang Dynasty),a strong earthquake occurred in this region.In different editions of catalog of Chinese strong earthquakes,the intensity of this event were assessed,as Ⅶ or Ⅷ～Ⅸ,and magnitude as 51/2 or 63/4.Through investigation on the historical inferences of this event,we reassessed the intensity of Linfen Earthquake,occurred in 649 A.D. to be over Ⅸ,the magnitude is reevaluated as 7.5.This change of M and I 0 of Linfen Earthquake occurred in 649 A.D.,highlighted several problems,like the recurrence interval and hazard evaluation of strong earthquakes in this region.
