摘　　要：基于图像形态学处理和车牌几何特征,设计一个改进的车牌定位方法。首先对图像进行灰度化、垂直方向差分、线性拉伸和二值化等预处理,然后利用形态学方法对二值化后的图像进行一系列膨胀腐蚀处理,缩小车牌候选区域。先利用投影法粗略定位出候选车牌区域的位置,再根据车牌的长宽比来精确定位车牌的位置。Based on morphology and geometry characteristic of the license,we design a improved method of license plate location.At first,we process the image with differences to vertical direction,linear transformation and hinarization,then morphological operations are used to process the binary with a series of dilation and erosion to reduce candidate regions.Finally candidates of vehicle plate is coarsely segmented by the horizontal and vertical projection;the exact position of vehicle plate is selected out among the plate candi- dates by geometry characteristic of the license：the license plate region＇s ratio of width to height or scale of width and height.
