An Analysis of the Natural State in Leviathan

摘　　要：in the chapter 13 of Leviathan,by analyzing human nature,Thomas Hobbes gives out his hypothesis of the Natural state,in which people's lives are guided by law of nature.Without a common power to keep all in awe,the law of nature cannot be observed all the time.Thus long time peace and comfort will never be achieved,and even the security of people cannot be guaranteed.This situation can also be applied to the modern international anarchical society.This paper will make an analogy between the natural state in Leviathan and the modern international society to analyze the reason of international conflicts.in the chapter 13 of Leviathan, by analyzing human nature, Thomas Hobbes gives out his hypothesis of the Natural state, in which people＇ s lives are guided by law of nature. Without a common power to keep all in awe, the law of nature cannot be observed all the time. Thus long time peace and comfort will never be achieved, and even the security of people cannot be guaranteed. This situation can also be applied to the modern international anarchical society. This paper will make an analogy between the natural state in Leviathan and the modem intemational society to analyze the reason of international conflicts.
