摘　　要：在高等教育大发展的时代,作为当代美国高等教育改革的设计师,克拉克.克尔在他的《大学的功用》一书中系统集中地阐释了他关于美国现代大学理论的思想。他的高等教育理论着眼未来,所提出的多元化巨型大学观,是其高等教育思想体系的重要组成部分,有力地指导了美国乃至世界的高等教育的变革,具有深远的历史意义。During the great period of the rapid development of higher education, Clark Kerr, the designer of the reformation in modem American higher education, systematically elaborates on his idea of modern American university in his book The Uses of the University. His future-oriented theory on higher education, with his idea of multiversity as an important part, has exerted far-reaching influence on the transformation of higher education in America and other countries.
