摘　　要：美国成人教育起步于独立战争以后,但发展速度很快。美国成人教育的快速发展既与建国后的经济文化环境优越有密切联系,又与美国国民有重视成人教育的传统及美国联邦政府注意运用立法与拨款相结合的方式对各州成人教育的发展进行宏观调控、充分利用学校教育机构和社会各界的力量、引导各地成人教育自主发展密不可分。我国成人教育发展与改革的过程中,应当借鉴美国成人教育发展的历史经验,完善我国成人教育立法工作,促使我国成人教育健康快速地可持续发展。American adult education was not appeared until the end of The Civil War, and its Development speed is very high. Many factors caused American adult education successes. Profitable external conditions offer the fertile land and motive force for the development of American adult education; American people and government leaders have a good tradition of laying great emphasis on adult education; American government uses the method of legislation combining with appropriation to intervene the development of adult eduation of each state; Americans give adult institutions much freedom and make best use of social forces and public school for the development of adult education.
