摘　　要：《看不见的人》的文本分析多关注于从小说的象征意象、叙事话语、艺术特色和写作手法等方面来解析这部作品。通过分析一个黑人青年真实的成长历程和成长经验以及小说中的莱因哈特和"祖父"角色的塑造来探析小说的主题:解读现代人所面临的共同困境,即个体强烈的自我意识与各种外在因素所导致的自我意识之间的矛盾造成了现代人的孤独感和生活焦虑,失去自我、被人视而不见的生存状态成为现代人的普遍命题。Invisible Man is commonly analyzed in terms of its perfect use of symbolism, unique narrative style, marvellous artistic devices and distinctive writing skills. From a new point of view, this paper attempts to probe into the theme of the novel ：im interpretation of the common dilemma faced by modem people by way of the description of the growth experience of a young black and the depiction of Reinhardt and ＂Grandfather＂. Hence a conclusion is drawn ： the contradiction between a strong sense of self-esteem and some outer elements results in modern man＇ s anxiety and loneliness, and they are con- fronted with a loss of ego and a state of being ignored by others.
