摘　　要：英语词汇是学习英语和提高英语水平的基础,英语词汇的学习与教学在大学英语教学中具有重要的地位。文章拟运用语境理论来指导英语词汇教学,介绍了语境理论中的三个重要概念即上下文语境、情景语境、文化语境,并运用这些概念来指导英语词汇的教学工作。English vocabulary is the basis for improving English level and English lexical teaching is of vital importance in the college English teaching.This paper will apply context theory to guiding English lexical teaching.It first introduces the three basic concepts in context theory： co-text,situational context and cultural context.The co-text will help students master the different meanings of vocabulary in different co-text and avoid ambiguity.Situational context will help students enlarge their lexicon.Cultural context will help students overcome the negative language transfer of their mother tongue,understand the cultural connotations of English vocabulary and use the vocabulary appropriately.
