Objective To investigate the expression of EGFR and TGF-α in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC),and explore its relationship with clinicopathologic features. Methods Immunohistochemistry method was used to examine the expressions of EGFR and TGF-α in 66 cases of NSCLC and 10 cases of normal lung tissue. The correlation between expression of EGFR and TGF-α and their relation with clinicopathological features were analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of EGFR and TGF-α were significantly higher in NSCLC than in normal lung tissue(69.7% vs 30.0% and 71.2% vs 30.0%,P0.05).In NSCLC,the overexpression of EGFR had significant correlation with the differentiation dagree of cancer tissue, metastasis in lymph nodes and TNM stages(P0.05).The overexpression of TGF-α has significant correlation with the metastasis in lymph nodes and TNM stages(P0.05).EGFR and TGF-α expression showed positive correlation(P0.05).Conclusion EGFR and TGF-α are overexpressed in NSCLC,and their expression is correleted. This suggests that EGFR and TGF-α may play an important role in the carcinogenesis and development of NSCLC,and this might be a potential therapeutic target for treatment of NSCLC.
