摘 要:本文分析了191名英语专业四年级学生在英译汉、汉译英任务中的表现,结果显示:1)学生的汉译英能力稍强于英译汉能力,但总体而言,他们在两次口译任务中的表现不够令人满意;2)具体来说,学生在英译汉任务中的问题主要表现在理解、记忆源信息上,特别是在遇到数字、生词、复杂句式时易卡壳;在汉译英任务中,学生的问题集中于目的语表达层面,如句子建构、专有名词的表达及对小词和中式短语的传达。以上结果表明口译教学仍有待加强,口译训练应更有针对性。This study investigates the oral interpreting performance by 191 English majors from 30 Chinese universities in both English-Chinese (E-C) and Chinese-English (C-E) interpreting tasks. It has been found that the students, in general, tend to perform better in the C-E than the E-C tasks, but their overall performance is not very satisfactory. More detailed analyses of the students' interpreting errors have further revealed that students, in the E-C tasks, may encounter difficulty in understanding the source language especially when it involves complex syntax, numerals and unfamiliar words, while the major difficulties in the C-E tasks lie in the expression in the target language, including inaccurate rendition of proper nouns, awkward sentence construction and mechanic word-for-word translation. Based on these findings, the authors offer suggestions on how to improve the teaching of oral interpretation for college English majors in China.
