摘　　要：人为什么要学数学？从科学的立场来看，数学是时代的特征，数学是美妙的乐章，数学是科学的皇后、科学的仆人、科学的伙伴．从教育的立场来看，数学是具备公民资格的前提，数学是现代人的基本素质，数学培养人的优秀品质，数学教人思维，数学提升审美能力，数学促进人的终身发展等．在数学课程改革的背景下，“人为什么要学数学？”是我们教育工作者必须弄清的数学教育哲学的基本问题．Why should Man learn mathematics？ From the perspective of science, mathematics was the feature of the times, a wonderful piece of music, the Queen of science, the servant of science, the company of science. From the perspective of education, mathematics was a prerequisite to possess the citizenship, as was the basic literacy of modern people. Mathematics equip one with the excellent quality, teach one how to think, elevate the aesthetic ability, and accelerate one＇s lifelong development. In the background of the curriculum reform of mathematics, ＂Why should Man learn mathematics？＂ was the fundamental problem which the education operators like us must understand.
