Based on the PACCEL-S corpus, this empirical study attempts to analyze the disfluency phenomena in Chinese to English Interpretations of Chinese EFL learners. Having closely studied such phenomena in the corpus with the help of statistical analysis as well as tagging and search techniques, we can conclude that pauses, whether filled or unfilled, as well as repetitions constitute most of the disfluency in Chinese students'interpretations. They serve merely as the hesitator in speech production. As to the gender differ- ences, both male and female students only adopt low-level self-repairs in mistake corrections, indicating that these students, though English majors, are not quite confident in their use of language. However, significant gender differences still exist in the use of self-re- pairs, i.e. male students tend to use significantly more phoneme correction and deletion techniques than their female counterparts, while female students use significantly more lexical and grammatical correction than the male students. The significant differences also exist between two groups of top-score and low-score students, but only in the use of more pauses for low-score students in Chinese to English interpretations.
