摘　　要：转喻和隐喻一样,是一种应用广泛的修辞手法。在过去的几十年中,隐喻作为思维的本质方式得到了广泛的研究。尽管转喻在人类生活中也起着非常重要的作用,在人们使用语言的过程中频繁出现,但它所受的关注却很少。本文从认知的角度研究转喻及其在英语习语中的使用。通过探讨转喻在英语习语中的应用,期望能够帮助英语学习者更好地理解英语习语,更有效地学习和使用习语。Like metaphor,metonymy is a widely used figure of speech.In the past years,metonymy has been studied a lot.Although it plays an important role in people＇s life and has been used repeatedly,people pay little attention to it.In the thesis,it analyzes metonymy and its usage in English idioms from cognitive point.Through the study,it can help the English learners to understand the English idioms better and learn,eventually use more effectively.
