从《红楼梦》的两个英译本探析归化和异化

摘　　要：比较《红楼梦》两种英译本,通过阐述归化与异化两种翻译策略,读者会发现归化与异化并不矛盾,任何译本都是两者结合的结果。译者应从文化和语言的角度,在作者和读者间找到最佳的平衡点,译出准确流畅,形神兼备的作品。Through explanation of the two translating methods--domestication and foreignization, comparing the two English translations--＂A Dream of Red Mansions＂ from Yang Xian-yi and ＂The Story of the Stone＂ from David Hawkes, the readers come to the conclusion that the two translating methods--domestication and foreignization are not incompatible and they work together in any translation. Translators should find the best balancing point between the author and readers from the perspectives of culture and language to create an accurate and fluent work in unity of form and spirit.
