四字词语在科技英语翻译中的应用

摘　　要：四字结构词语是汉语的精华,其特点是言简意赅,节奏明快。本文用韩理德的功能语言学理论和奈达的"动态对等"翻译理论,探讨汉语四字词语在科技英语翻译中的运用。在忠实于原文的基础上,把科技英语中的单词、词组、短语或习语适当地译成四字结构词语,可以使译文更为传神达意,风采倍增,使读者更容易理解原文的内涵。The four-character-structure-words are the essence of Chinese,which is characterized by concise and paced.This paper,analyzing Halliday＇s functional linguistics theory and Nida＇s ＂dynamic equivalence＂ translation theory,probes the application of Chinese four-character-structure-words to the translation in English for science and technology（EST）.The paper proposes that the words,phrases,idioms or text in EST can be faithfully turned into Chinese four-character-structure-words appropriately,with some examples showing the vivid version.
