摘　　要：鉴于1980年以降英语文学重要作家来自少数族裔的现象愈来愈突出,本文通过观察20世纪前半叶爱尔兰作家乔伊斯在长篇小说创作中对英语小说的部分惊人"创新"、对英语语言的部分"破坏性创新",析述乔伊斯与英语的关系,即析述创作主体跟那种本不属于他/她的语言之间的关系,尝试一种新的思维来解读二者的关系。Considering the growing slice since 1980 of the prominent writers, either from the English＇s former colonial countries or from the non-English-speaking nations, who write in English, this paper observes his shocking creativity either in English literature or in the English language by James Joyce in the first half of the twentieth century before it attempts to look at his relations with English, that is, the writer＇s relations with the language which is not his/ her native tongue but s/he writes in.
