霍克斯在《红楼梦》翻译中对文化的操纵与构建

摘　　要：通过分析霍克斯英译《红楼梦》的翻译行为,证实了"操纵""文化构建"思想对翻译文学存在一定影响,一方面文化对翻译有"操纵"作用,译者有受操纵的一面,也有反操纵的一面;另一方面翻译有一种"文化构建"的重要功能,翻译一经产生会对目标语或译入语文化的演进产生巨大影响。翻译不仅塑造了原作在读者心中的形象,而且是传递文化信息的媒介,是文学更新的重要工具。By analyzing the activities of Hawkes＇ translation of HongLou Meng,the paper proves that the thought of ＂manipulation＂ and ＂culture construction＂ influences translation literature.On the one hand,culture has manipulation power on translation.Translator may not only be manipulated but also have an anti-manipulating force;on the other hand,translation has an important function of culture construction.When created,translation will have strong influence on the evolution of target-language culture.Translation not only creates image of the original text in readers＇ mind,but also is a medium of transmitting cultural information and a tool of renewal or reform of cultural forms.
