摘　　要：《现代精神与儒家传统》是“儒学第三期发展”的指导性著作，杜维明认为，“儒学第三期发展”必须以方法论转变为导向，要从原来注重儒学之“体”的形而上学方法转到注重儒学之“用”的现实主义方法上来，今日的儒学研究只有从“用”上入手，才能既回归儒学传统。This essay deals with Contemporay Spirit and Confucian Tradition,written by Du Weiming,which shows Confucian development in it's third period.In the book,Du Weiming argues that Confucian development in it's third period should see a methodologic transformation from metaphysical method focusing on Confucian ontology to pragmatis one focusing on Confucian function.Only beginning with Confucian function can confucian study return to confucian tradition and reuse its spiritual resource beneficial to contemporary life.
