摘　　要：学习者的观念和态度是影响其自主学习能力提高的重要因素,本文调查了2000余名非英语专业大学新生的英语自主学习观念。研究发现,受试学生从观念上开始打破对教师角色的传统理解和期待,认识到学生个体在英语学习中的责任和主体地位。但是,调查也显示,部分学生策略性知识明显不足,而且自我效能感观念较低。因此,大学英语教师应适时调整教学策略和内容,帮助大学新生尽早树立正确的英语学习观念,不断丰富学生英语学习的经验,提高其认知能力,构建有效的学习策略,学会学习。Learners＇ beliefs and attitude play an important role in fostering their autonomous learning ability. This paper made an investigation on 2000 non-English majors＇ beliefs about learner autonomy. The subjets showed a favourable understanding of the role of their teachers in the learning process and admitted their role in and responsibility for successful English learning. Meanwhile, this investigation also found an inadequate knowledge and low sense of self-efficacy in the subjets, which requires college English teachers＇ great efforts in helping first-year university students to bulid up positive beliefs and master effective learning strategies in their early days of college life.
