摘　　要：《重学》是晚清第一部较系统地引进西方经典力学的译著,其中许多术语名词都是首次用中文表达。通过对比研究《重学》与原著An Elementary Treatise on Mechanics,探讨《重学》中的术语及其翻译,并对其翻译的方法、特点、准确性给予简要评述。Zhongxueis a translation of W. Whewell＇s An Elementary Treatise on Mechanics, done by Joseph Edkins and Li Shanlan in 1859. Many technical terms appear here for the first time in Chinese. Based on a comparison of Mechanics with Zhongxue, this article analyses the Chinese translation of the technical terms, and comments on the methodology, characteristics and accuracy of these translations.
