摘　　要：学术界多从表现主义、象征主义等方面研究美国戏剧之父尤金·奥尼尔的代表作《琼斯皇》。本文则依据经典叙事学相关理论,探讨该剧的叙事时间,认为时序、时距、频率等叙事时间因素被刻意利用,使其在戏剧主题的建构中起到重要作用,从而不仅将琼斯的逃亡、个人现实、历史、心理状况表现清楚,而且将黑人民族社会生活、历史发展和集体无意识等多维全景画卷一一展现,将主题一步步扩大、深化。The expressionistic and symbolic elements in O＇Neill＇s masterpiece The Emperor Jones have always been the focus of discussion.This paper,however,based on the related theories of classical narratology,investigates the narrative time in the play,and holds that such narrative time elements as order,duration,and frequency are arranged to contribute to the dramatic theme,revealing not only Jones＇s runaway journey,his personal reality,history and psychology,but also the multi-dimensional panorama of the social life,historical development and Jungian collective unconsciousness of the black people,thus enlarging and deepening the dramatic theme.
