摘　　要：隐喻性是英语无灵主语句的生动性与普遍性之根源,分析与解释英语无灵主语句必须建立在隐喻理论的基础上。文章对《英语无灵句的功能语法分析》一文进行评析,指出其在术语的使用、理论依据的定位以及权威观点的引用三方面存在的问题。English sentences with inanimate subjects are metaphorical and that is why they are vivid and pervasive.They should,therefore,be analyzed and explained on the theoretical basis of metaphor.The present paper makes a critical review of the paper 'Analysis of English Inanimate Sentences with Functional Grammar' and points out its weaknesses in the employment of technical terms,the establishment of theoretical bases and the accuracy of quotations.
