Purpose To understand the different expression of S100A7 and AKT in breast cancer and their correlations. Methods Immunohistochemical PV non-biotin two-step method was used to examine expression of SI00A7 and AKT in 226 cases of breast canc- er, and their correlations with chnicopathological features involving ER, PR, and Her-2 status in breast cancer. Results The expres- sion of S100A7 protein in ductal carcinoma in situ, was high (52. 50% ) , while the positive expression rate of AKT in breast invasive ductal carcinoma increased (50. 00% ) , the expression of both S100A7 and AKT was higher in cases with lymph node metastasis (P = 0. 006 2, P = 0. 044 8), and the expression rate in stage Ⅲ was higher than that in stages I and Ⅱ (P = 0. 025 8, P = 0. 040 3 ). The correlation of AKT expression with tumor size was significant (P = 0. 031 0). The expression of S100A7 and AKT in breast cancer had negative correlation with ER and PR status, and positive correlation with Her-2 amplification. Conclusion Detection of S100A7 and AKT proteins in breast cancer cells plays an important role in the pathologic study, which likely provide new targets for breast cancer treatment.
