The Influence of Different Pairing Patterns on the Student-student Interaction in College English Class—An Empirical Study

摘  要:本研究以大学一年级学生为研究对象,采用定量和定性相结合的研究方法,对三种不同结对模式下,即教师指定结对的固定组、学生自由结对的固定组、随堂就近结对的非固定组(以下分别简称为教师固定组、学生固定组和非固定组),学生语言输出的数量和质量以及学生对结对互动的看法进行对比分析。研究结果显示,学生固定组产出的C单位数量及话轮转换次数最少,产出的语言错误最多,学生对结对互动的看法也最为积极;非固定组产出的C单位数量及话轮转换次数最少,产出的语言错误最多,学生对结对互动的看法最为消极。这表明固定结对模式(尤其是学生自由结对固定模式)更有利于提高学生语言输出的数量和质量。With the first-year college students being selected as research Subjects, together with the adoption of both quantitative and qualitative methods, this study has analyzed the quantity and quality of language output of students from different pairing groups (fixed pairing arranged by teacher, fixed pairing on students'own willingness, non-fixed dynamic pairing with the neighbor) as well as their attitudes toward the paired oral interaction in language class. The results showed that students from the group of fixed pairing on students' own willingness produced the largest number of C-units and turns but the least of language mistakes in their oral interaction, and their attitudes toward paired language study were the most supportive. Students form the non- fixed pairing group produced the smallest number of C-units and turns but the most of language mistakes in their oral interaction, and that their attitudes toward paired language study were the most negative. The results proved that the pattern of fixed pairing (especially the pattern of fixed pairing on students' own willingness) in language class was more conducive to improve the quantity and quality of language output in the oral interaction.
