从东方主义角度解读《喜福会》中的中国传统文化

摘　　要：本文从东方主义角度出发,借助"他者"这一概念,分析了《喜福会》中的中国饮食文化和中国传统信仰这两个方面。一方面,中国人无所不吃,并且吃法野蛮;另一方面,中国人讲究风水,五行等,从而得出中国人被认为是野蛮的,愚昧的他者。作者谭恩美这些有意识的描写在某种程度上加深了中国文化在边缘文化中的他者地位。Chinese culture,that is mystic beliefs like astrology and Wuhusing,prove the label of ＂heathen Chinese＂ in Tan＇s The Joy Luck Club.These depictions of Chinese culture by Amy Tan participate in the dominant American discourse of Orientalizing Chinese.It is easy to see that her heavy painting on the above-mentioned aspects,to some extent,reinforces Chinese culture as the image of Other in the marginal culture.
