摘　　要：合成名词的修辞功能 ,主要表现在暗喻和借代等方面。构成合成名词的方法是 :或用人体、动物等作喻体 ,或以典型特征代替另一种事物 ,以作者代作品等等。This essay deals mainly with the compound nouns,which cover most of the items in EST,their logic grammar and characteristics.By using examples,the author analysed and summerized the compound nouns'rhetoric functions as metaphor and metonymy.
