摘　　要：华裔作家谭恩美的作品《喜福会》,以母女两代华裔在美国家庭与社会生活为线索,展现了中国文化与美国文化的碰撞与冲突。而随着女儿一代对母亲乃至对中国文化的理解和母亲对美国社会与文化了解的加深,两代人之间以及与美国主流社会之间终于达到了相互包容与理解的境地。中美文化从二元对立到和谐共处,不仅是作者跨文化思想的表达,也是中美文化交流发展的必然趋势。Amy Tan＇s work, The Joy Luck Club, displays collision and conflict between Chinese and Ameri- can culture through a clue to family and social lives of mother and daughter, two generations of Chinese descent, in the United States. With the daughter＇ s deepening understanding of mother and Chinese culture and also the mother＇ s deepening understanding of American society and culture, mutual tolerance and understanding is reached between two generations and between them and mainstream society of the United States. Chinese and American culture go through binary oppositions to harmonious co - existence, not only an expression of cross - cultural ideas, but also an inevitable trend of the development of Sino - US cultural exchanges.
