Ojeetive To investigate the effects of soybean oligosaccharides (SBOS) on development of small intestine and absorption in weaned piglets. Method Twelve Huanjiang mini-piglets weaned at age 21 d were randomly allocated into two groups with six replicates in the feeding trial. The piglets were fed 0% or 0.5% SBOS- supplemented diet for 14 d. The plasma was collected at the end of this trail and used for measuring blood glucose. The jejunum and ileum were collected for histological analysis. The mRNA expression abundances of sodiuml glucose cotransporter (SGLT1) and glucose transporfer (GLUT2) in jejunum and ileum were determined by relative quantitative RT-PCR respectively. Results The mRNA expression of SGLT1 and GLUT2 in SBOS group had intestinal space position specificity, and their expression levels in the jejunum were higher (P〈0.05) than those in ileum, as well as than the control group. SBOS increased (P〈0.05) the ratio of villus height and fossae depth of small intestine Conclusion SBOS can promote development and nutrient absorption ofsmall intestine in mini-piglets.
