摘　　要：运用主题分析法及文本分析法,研究了汤婷婷《中国佬》中对恢复被扭曲的华裔刻板形象所做出的努力以及对种族和性别界限的质疑。小说《中国佬》通过改写历史神话传说的叙事方式,颠覆了美国东方主义话语,重塑了中国人在东方主义话语中的形象,旨在寻求美国华裔身份中的美国属性及族裔属性和谐共生的归属感。China Men is a novel telling four male generations of Chinese - American＇ s surviving experiences in the United States. Resorting to an approach of thematic study and textual analysis on China Men, the paper argues that China Men subverts American Orientalist discourse and reconstructs the stereotypical image of Chinese - Americans in the American Orientalist discourse in search of the harmonious coexistence of American identity belongings and their ethnic identity. It investigates Kingston＇ s efforts in reshaping the stereotypical image of Chinese - American males and in querying the boundaries of race and gender.
