普通高校本科专业名称英译探究

摘　　要：大学专业学科名称由于所涉及内涵不一,其英语表述不尽相同。我国大学专业学科名称英译有的与国外相同,有的不相同。普通高校本科专业名称的英译通行的做法是根据教育部颁布的《普通高校本科专业目录》进行汉英翻译。但事实上这类学校本科专业名称的英译因校而异。本文主要从普通高校本科专业名称的含义、译名与所学内容三方面对本科专业译称进行了分析、归纳和总结。This paper is mainly concerned with the English translation of specializations in China＇s regular higher education institutions as issued in 2012 by the Ministry of Education.The author finds out that there are many differences-in the names of specialty between China and Western countries due to different cultures or different courses offered.The paper tries to illustrate the regularity of translating specializations in terms of the relationship among translated English names,implied meaning of original names and courses offered for the specialty.
